Inclusion Talk Series: LGBTQ+ History Month – Past, Present, Future
Join Compass Family Services as we celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month with Dr. Jon Paul.
In 1994, Rodney Wilson, a Missouri high school teacher, believed a month should be dedicated to celebrating and teaching gay and lesbian history, and gathered other teachers and community leaders. They selected October because public schools are in session and existing traditions, such as Coming Out Day (October 11), occur that month.
Doctor Jon Paul is changing how we discuss the intersections of gender, race, and identity in education and entertainment. With over 15 years of experience in leadership and social justice education, they are focused on using their voice and platform to highlight the joy and resilience of marginalized people.
Dr. Higgins is a trailblazer creating, sharing, and crafting the stories their ancestors didn’t get to tell.
